Suswana Chowdhury is a multimedia artist and journalist based out of New York with a focus on video production and cinematography. Although her journalism background has trained her to research all sides of an argument, she calls bullshit on the notion that any journalist is “objective.” The gatekeepers of media continue to control which narratives people hear and Suswana is determined to put herself in a position of decision making where she can open the gates to more diverse narratives that are more accurately reflective of the world she and her friends have seen. Most of her work is presented through the lens of growing up as a first-generation Bengali-American woman in the financial capital of the world. Suswana is passionate in her belief that education is a human right and is actively fundraising to build sustainable and accessible education for girls in India with WE Charity. It’s time for all womxn to take their rightful place at the throne.
